I'm a 23 year old student at Western Nevada College. I started drawing with pencil when I was about 5 and drew for a few years through middle school, then stopped for a few years. I started back up when I was about 21. I am now interested in getting into the digital feild, which is why I'm going back to school and taking photoshop. I've recently found out about this site and now joined it!

Nice start to your portfolio! May I offer a suggestion? Get a box of pencils that range from a 4H to 8B and try to use as many of those pencils in each drawing. The various shades of grays and lighting will make the drawings jump off the page.
As you can see from my drawings, I draw using all lines. I never use a blending tool - other than a lighter pencil over the darker graphite.

Thank you! I appreciate it. Yes please give me as many hints and tips as you feel necessary! I hope to grow into an artist like you. I dont have anyone to talk to about art, Ive kinda been on my own in that perspective. Ive only used #2 pencils as you can tell.. I have a decent size portfolio that I havent uploaded yet, most of which are older.
I used to draw with only #2 pencils too. After awhile I knew there as something more on that paper screaming to get out but being a self taught artist it took em awhile to figure out what to do.
I actually gave up drawing for six years but picked it up again in 2000. Now I have my work in several art and model books and working on my third book on how to draw. So if you have questions, dont be shy
